Bangkok HIV Test

Hi guys, welcome to our new HIV blog. We just registered this expired domain. We are in no way related to the previous owner and it's mail oder HIV home testing kits business. Please, bear with us for a few days before we start to build up health and STD related content on our new HIV blog. We hope to be online with more diagnostic HIV testing information by May 2009.

Glad to see a site that is for Bangkok and HIV (and in English). Good luck.
My first question and may be a good list (to be updated) to add to the site: Can you suggest the best Hiv Doctors in Bangkok.
I have just been diagnosed and my doc at Bumgringrad wants to start me on meds. I want someone else to talk to about it all. (Pity there is not someone like Dr. Tony Mills of LA (see various web references to him), but he is probably one in a million.
Thanks.

HI I have been workingin an HIV/AIDS clinic and studied now in Bangkok Tropical medicine, where HIV is of course a big issue too. There are many excellent HIV docs in Thailand.

Prof. Chureeratana from Chon Buri Hospital. She also is in Bangkok now and then and was elected to be the doc of the year in Thailand by her patients, she has vast expereince in the field and is a very kind person.

Prof. Somsit Tansuphasawadikul
Bamrasnaradura Hospital, Nonthaburi
Province, Bangkok s one of the old HIV docs, ver kind and very experienced, he is retired but still in the clinic

Dr. Philippe is a french doc in Pattaya and cares for muhc more than 1000 patients there and is well known with all the people and frequently arround with the gay community.

But I met many more.

Dr. Rainer Brandl

Will you provide info for home tests? The previous domain owner was selling OraSure tests (probably stolen from Bangkok manufacturing facility) but anyway, I am in the US but travel to Asia for business . The US has taken the stance of keeping the tests from the public (OTC) in an effort to "counsel" people. The reality is that the big and rich Pharm companies make too much off of the treatment so they want people to not be pro-active. Their lobbies keep home tests off the shelf and the result is going to the means of buying stolen tests. If you got tested and it was positive and your insurance company found out this news, you would not be able to keep it or get insurance with anyone. So it's best to self test outside of the US and keep it private. So where can I get a self OTC test?

Can someone tell me the names of the best HIV docs in Thailand/Bangkok? My thai girlfriend is HIV+, I am HIV- though. But I love her alot and we're even planing a wedding. So it's very important for me, and for her, that she's get the best treathment she possibly can.
I've read up alot of HIV, and now I know that (didn't have a clue about that before) a HIV- and a HIV+ person could live together. When I first got to know that she was HIV+ I though she was going to die in a soon future. BUT thanks to all the good meds, researchers and docs we have today that's NOT the case. A HIV+ person will probably not die of HIV (if they do follow up their illness and do take the meds as they should do) and that was a hugh relief for me.. Because now I can see my future with this women I love, we can even get healthy kids together!

BUT as I said, I'm in a big need for a REALLY profesionall doc in this case. Because my girlfriend is not on meds yet, her CD4 is still good. But I want her to build up a relationship with some good doc that she can trust, not like now.. she is changing doc all the time.. I want her to have someone she can trust and talk with it all about! I hope someone expeienced reads this and is able to help!

Good luck every HIV person, and persons who live with someone diagnosed HIV. You're not alone! :)
